REKLAIM’S NOTICE OF FINANCIAL INCENTIVE
Updated Feb 27th 2022Reklaim provides you with transparency and control of your data. Through Reklaim, you can not only view data circulating in the market about you, but you can see the companies that are buying and selling your data and how much, on average, your data is sold for.
Certain jurisdictions, such as California, have rules that require disclosures about the financial incentives provided to a consumer regarding their personal information. The Reklaim Notice of Financial Incentive explains the core terms of a financial incentive to consumers. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), a business may offer financial incentives, including payments to consumers, as compensation for collecting information, the sale of personal data, or the deletion of personal information. A business may also offer a different price, rate, level, or quality of goods or services to the consumer if that price or difference is directly related to the value provided to the business by the consumer’s data.
Reklaim is compliant with the CCPA. We recognize that consumers provide data to companies – sometimes unknowingly - and rarely have a complete understanding of the value of such data. We are trying to change that. When you sign up for Reklaim, you gain more control over your data. You control how much data we obtain (e.g., whether you Reklaim data from a data breach, or you participate in a survey) and whether we can monetize such data. There is no requirement to allow us to monetize your data in order to use our product. As a customer of Reklaim you may opt-out from Reklaim’s use and the sale of your data at any time via your account dashboard. Reklaim compensates you based upon how much data you choose to share in accordance with our Terms. When you sign up for Reklaim and agree to our terms, you are consenting to Reklaim’s use of this data. In calculating the value of your data, we consider several metrics, including (a) the value of your data to Reklaim, (b) the revenue we may generate from your data, (c) the expenses related to the services we provide, and (d) any profit that we may generate from the data. Additionally, as part of our dashboard, accessible via the product, we provide an estimate of the value of your data.
